Dive into a miniature ocean with this intricately crafted glass coral reef implosion pendant. I begin by blowing a large, delicate clear bubble, then pull and layer multiple strands of colored glass. Each pendant is a unique seascape, “painted” with carefully mixed colors in dots, reefs, spirals, and twisting coral formations. I create my own latticino twists for the coral, some accented with subtle sparkles for a touch of shimmer.
Once the scene is complete, I gently and slowly fuse it into a solid glass puck. The pendant is then flipped so the painted reef on the back can shine through the clear front, enhancing the depth and brilliance of the colors. I carefully heat and shape the edges on a graphite marver, allowing the vibrant coral reef to implode into the heart of the glass, creating a mesmerizing, multi-dimensional underwater world. Each pendant is a one-of-a-kind snapshot of the sea, capturing its motion, color, and life in stunning detail.
